You are not alone

"And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed" —Deuteronomy 31:8

Verse 1
I’ve seen the lightning flashing,
  And heard the thunder roll;
I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing,
  Trying to conquer my soul;
I’ve heard the voice of Jesus,
  Telling me still to fight on;
He promised never to leave me,
  Never to leave me alone.

Chorus
No, never alone,
  No, never alone,
He promised never to leave me,
  Never to leave me alone;
No, never alone,
  No, never alone,
He promised never to leave me,
    Never to leave me alone.

Verse 2
The world’s fierce winds are blowing,
  Temptations are sharp and keen;
I feel a peace in knowing
  My Savior stands between;
He stands to shield me from danger,
  When earthly friends are gone,
He promised never to leave me,
  Never to leave me alone.

Verse 3
When in affliction’s valley,
  I’m treading the road of care,
My Savior helps me to carry
  My cross when heavy to bear;
My feet entangled with briars,
  Ready to cast me down;
My Savior whispered His promise,
  Never to leave me alone.

Verse 4
He died for me on the mountain,
  For me they pierced His side,
For me He opened that fountain,
  The crimson, cleansing tide;
For me He waiteth in glory,
  Seated upon His throne;
He promised never to leave me,
  Never to leave me alone.

Anger is a choice

"A soft answer turneth away wrath:
but grievous words stir up anger."
—Proverbs 15:1

Solomon, the wisest man in the world, said, "He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city" (Proverbs 16:32). Those are pretty strong words! The Apostle Paul admonished us: "But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth" (Colossians 3:8).

Anger is a choice—a decision we make. We can choose to control it or we can choose to let it run wild. It can damage relationships, putting us in danger at work, at school, with authorities and especially at home, with those we love most.

Decide now to put an end to anger. Pray this prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Without your help, I will never win this battle with rage. But your Word says, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

I am counting on your strength to help me ward off anger. I renounce it in Jesus’ Name. I repent of holding on to anger and giving the devil a foothold in my life and relationships.

I am determined to follow your Word, to study it, memorize it, meditate on it, and declare it until you have renewed my mind, giving me the mind of Christ – a mind at peace with God, at peace with myself, and at peace with others. This is possible only through the shedding of your blood, the atoning of my sin on the Cross, for which I am eternally grateful.

I submit myself wholeheartedly to your grace and forgiveness. Teach me to be your disciple. Give me godly leaders to follow and a Church Body to walk alongside. I receive from you the ability to put away anger!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Let the Lord have his way

Here's a great song to sing, especially when teaching the story of Esther but it's also great for adults and for any occasion.

Let the Lord have his way
in your life every day.
There’s no rest, there’s no peace,
until the Lord has his way.
Place your life in his Hand.
Rest secure in his plan.
Let the Lord, let the Lord have his way.

The illustrated songbook is no longer available. However, piano music for this song and 60 other children's songs can be found in Growing Songs for Children Book 1, which is available through Child Evangelism Fellowship: https://cefpress.com/kids-sing-the-good-news-2-cd.html

God leads us along

"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps." —Proverbs 16:9 KJV

God is in control. Do your best, then trust Him to do the rest!

Verse 1
In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet,
God leads His dear children along;
Where the water’s cool flow bathes the weary one’s feet,
God leads His dear children along.

Refrain
Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.

Verse 2
Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,
God leads His dear children along;
Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night,
God leads His dear children along.

Verse 3
Though sorrows befall us and evils oppose,
God leads His dear children along;
Through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes,
God leads His dear children along.

Verse 4
Away from the mire, and away from the clay,
God leads His dear children along;
Away up in glory, eternity’s day,
God leads His dear children along.
